I have such a love for magnesium, like zinc I feel like it really does not get the love it deserves. Also magnesium deficiency is one of the leading nutrient deficiencies in the world! (If I were you I’d click on the magnesium link and see if you have symptoms of deficiency) Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical functions in the body!!
There are many kinds of magnesium but the two that I take are:
Magnesium chelate– I only started taking this about a year ago because my NAET doctor initially said my stomach wasnt ready for it. After a few years (yes years) of healing my stomach is now about to digest and use magnesium in this form. This type of magnesium is much easier absorbed by the body as it is the kind that is more commonly found in foods.
Magnesium chloride oil -I took this for years because my stomach was unable to properly digest and use the magnesium (if you notice that magnesium goes right through you). I would recommend this for anyone who has never taken magnesium but of course use with caution and start with a very small amount ! This is a topical oil that is applied and absorbed through the skin and directly into the blood stream. This is also great for sore muscles, you can rub it on and it helps with the pain and muscle recovery.
Note: it leaves behind a white salty powder on your skin but this is good. Your body is absorbing the magnesium and the powder is just the left over chloride salt. If you notice that your skin is quickly absorbing the oil and leaving behind this salt then you are most likely deficient!
Why I use it:
So that my body can properly function! This is something that I try to take every day unless for whatever reason I feel like I don’t need it. It helps with blood sugar issues, increases energy, and aids in digestion among many other things!
I take the mag chelate now but I also use the spray especially after a hard work out. My muscles loveeee it. The spray can also be used as a deodorant.
When to use it:
I take the pill form daily in the morning. I also will take it at night to help promote a restful sleep. I still use the spray ( you can also find lotions) and I use this on sore muscles after working out or under my arms right after I shower.
